We’re proud to announce Sea Gypsy Rentals has once again achieved Airbnb Superhost status. It’s a designation reserved for Airbnb hosts who consistently deliver top-tier guest experiences. Most Superhosts are small operators, like mom and pops who rent out a single guesthouse on their property. It’s much more difficult for a large operator like us, with 65 units here, to maintain the Superhost designation, as our San Francisco-based Airbnb rep has reminded us many times.
While this is a major accomplishment for us, it’s also a nod to our owners. We couldn’t be Superhosts if they hadn’t given us 65 properties here to manage.
What does it take to be an Airbnb Superhost?
Airbnb re-evaluates our Superhost status quarterly. We’ve maintained Superhost for five consecutive quarters.

- A 4.8-plus average guest rating (out of 5) in our reviews
- 90%+ message response rate
- Fewer than 1% cancellations
- 10+ completed stays in the last year (piece of cake for us)
The Sea Gypsy exists with a toe in multiple markets. We still draw a lot of travelers seeking a hotel experience from sites like Expedia and Booking.com where we promote the Sea Gypsy brand. But when we’re playing to travelers looking for a personalized experience, we present a brand with a name and a face. Airbnb travelers aren’t just booking a unit at the Sea Gypsy, they’re booking a condo from Troy.
