Summer in Lincoln City has a way of turning a normal weekend into a full schedule of beach walks, kite flying, live music, sunburns acquired accidentally, and at least one conversation about wind direction.
From kite festivals to fireworks to outdoor markets, summer is when the Oregon Coast gets loud in the best possible way. If a trip to Lincoln City is on the calendar this year, these are the events worth planning your trip around.
Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival
Every summer, Lincoln City fills with giant octopus kites, stunt flyers, colorful wind gardens, and people suddenly becoming deeply invested in aerodynamics.
Traditionally held at D River State Recreation Site, the 2026 Summer Kite Festival is temporarily moving to the north end of town due to construction of the new Welcome Center project near D River.
The beach surrounding Sea Gypsy Rentals, and D Sands Rentals on the other side of the river, will still have plenty happening during festival weekend, including a Flying Fabric Polygons Festival featuring colorful fabric displays, performances from a professional kite flyer, and opportunities to learn from a kite-flying instructor right on the beach.
So while the main festival shifts north temporarily, the D River stretch still gets to do what it does best: fill the sky with flying fabric polygons flapping aggressively in the wind.

Fourth of July in Lincoln City
The Fourth of July is best spent at the beach. Last year, Lincoln City replaced our annual fireworks with a drone show; however, this year, they are bringing back the fireworks to Devil’s Lake, rather than over Siletz Bay, where it was in previous years. The new fireworks show will be even closer to the Sea Gypsy and is just a short drive away from our oceanfront condo rentals.

Lincoln City Farmers & Crafters Market
The Lincoln City Sunday Market is a good excuse to slow down for a morning before returning to the beach for the rest of the day. Plus, with full kitchens in our condos, it’s a great spot to pick up fresh produce and ingredients for making your own meals.
The market is open every Sunday from May 3rd to October 11, with everything from fresh produce and baked goods to pottery, plants, seafood, candles, homemade soap, locally made wine, and original art. Check their website or Facebook page to stay up-to-date on the market every week!

Live music and outdoor performances
Summer brings live music events throughout Lincoln City, including outdoor performances, brewery concerts, and community festivals where someone is always dancing. Check places like the Lincoln City Cultural Center, Pines Dine, Beachcrest Brewing, Snug Harbor Bar & Grill, or Pelican Brewing to see what kind of live music they have coming up.
The nice thing about staying near the center of town is being close enough to enjoy the events without turning the trip into a constant driving situation.

Whale watching season
During the summer, whales are migrating along the Oregon Coast as they make their way towards Alaska for the season. Gray whale sightings happen regularly along the coast during the summer, and Lincoln City has several excellent viewpoints nearby.
D River State Recreation Site itself is considered one of the better whale-watching spots on the coast. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to spot one from the comfort of your own oceanfront balcony.
If you feel like making a day trip out of it, head down to Depoe Bay just south of Lincoln City. It is known as the Whale Watching Capital of Oregon for good reason. There are several companies that offer whale watching tours where you can see the giant creatures up close.

Plan your stay at the Sea Gypsy
After a full day of beach events, summer festivals, live music, and exploring the Oregon Coast, having an oceanfront place to come back to makes the trip even better. At Sea Gypsy Rentals, guests can stay just steps from the beach while remaining close to many of Lincoln City’s biggest summer events, restaurants, and attractions.
Whether the evening ends with sandy shoes by the door, takeout from a local seafood spot, or one last walk along the shoreline before sunset, Sea Gypsy offers a comfortable and relaxing place to experience summer on the Oregon Coast. Book your trip with us today!
